BUSINESSES and workers in Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne are being urged to wise up to smoking restrictions in company vehicles.
With less than a month to go until enclosed public places and workplaces go smokefree, there is still some confusion around the rules on work vehicles.
Officers from South Somerset District Council have been visiting businesses in the area to give advice on how the new law, which comes into place on July 1, will affect them.
Stewart Brock, south Somerset's Smokefree lead said: "Any vehicle, which is ever used by more than one person at work, must be smoke free at all times, and display a clear no smoking' symbol.
"For example, a work van usually driven by Fred is driven by Alex whilst Fred is on holiday.
"Because Alex sometimes drives the van, the van must remain smoke free, even if Alex and Fred are both smokers."
