YEOVIL MP David Laws has congratulated Chard's Holyrood Community School for receiving an Artsmark Award from the Arts Council.
Artsmark is a national award scheme that recognises and rewards schools for their commitment to a high level of provision in the arts The school had to complete a thorough evaluation of their arts provision and had to prove they offer a broad range of art opportunities.
Mr Laws said: "This is a great achievement. The award is given in recognition of the high level of arts teaching and opportunity that both schools offer their pupils.
"The staff deserve praise for their hard work in providing an excellent level of teaching and a wide range of choice for pupils in an often neglected area of the curriculum."
The school will take part in celebrations at Yeovil College on July 10 alongside other award winners in the South West.
