CHAIRMAN Maureen Cornelius welcomed 48 members and two new members to the Chard Ladies Evening Guild June meeting.
Schedules were available for next month's mini craft and flower show, and members will choice their favourites from each class. There will also be a competition to match childhood photos with members.
The museum flower festival is on September 15-16 and the flower group will be contacted by Dee Manley. An invitation to the official opening of Manor Court Scout Group on July 14 was received. There were thank you letters from Pam Bell, Elsie Morris and Maureen Cornelius.
The speaker was Jennie Short from Monkton Elm Garden Centre, who showed slides and displayed plants with winter interest. She explained that garden design should be 60% evergreen to give permanent structure. The vote of thanks was given by Audrey Dolling.
Flower of the month was won by Maureen Gollop and the raffle by Jan Kerr, Christine Williams, Margaret Prior, Marie Gibson and Lillian Shotton.
Next month's show will be on July 3 and there will be no sales table.
