POLICE have expressed concern after vandals targeted several cars along a Chard street during a string of weekend attacks.
They believe a skateboard was used to smash five wing mirrors on cars parked in Victoria Avenue between 11.15-11.45pm on Friday night.
The culprits returned to cause further damage to one of the vehicles about two hours later.
Then, some time on Sunday night or Monday morning, another vehicle had its rear windscreen smashed and was scratched along the side panel and boot.
Four bricks were also found near this vehicle.
Sgt Andy Kingston of Chard Police said: "The information we have is that the offenders may have been using a skateboard as an implement to hit the vehicles.
"A number of people heard the commotion and the sound of a skateboard.
"That type of damage is wanton and doesn't achieve anything for anybody.
"It's motiveless but it causes a massive amount of inconvenience and expense to innocent people.
"We would be very keen to bring these individuals to justice."
One of the victims, Diana Parsley, said: "On Friday I finished work at 10pm so was still up and I heard a noise, like the twang of a wing mirror, and then heard voices and people laughing and running off.
"It seems like a small thing but the cost really adds up - especially when it's not worth claiming on your insurance.
"When you work hard and don't have a lot of money why should you have to worry about paying when someone does something like that."
Diana said this kind of damage has happened before so she tries to park off-road whenever she can.
She added: "I've had damage done to my car before - I've had my wing mirrors smashed, and even saw a load ripped straight off in the road one morning.
"It used to happen a lot at one point but had died off recently. I don't understand why people do it or what they get from it."
Anyone with information is urged to call Chard Police Station on 0845-4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
