FIRE crews tackled a large vehicle on fire this lunchtime.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received numerous calls reporting a large vehicle on fire in Middle Street, North Perrott.
Fire control immediately mobilised one crew from Crewkerne, one from Yeovil and another from Martock following the calls shortly before 1pm.
On arrival the officer in charge found the vehicle to be well alight and requested a further appliance from Yeovil and the Environmental Protection Unit from Taunton due to nearby vehicles being affected by fire and leaking fuel.
Crews got to work extinguishing the fire using three breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a safety jet, two thermal imaging cameras and two Environment Agency packs to contain the leaking fuel.
Police and the highways agency also attended.
