THE managing director of a renowned Chard company has won a prestigious award.
Chris Duncan of Numatic International has been awarded the EEF/Aldermore Bank Manufacturing Champion award for the South-West.
The award recognises the individual who through vision, dedication, hard work and tireless involvement has made a significant contribution to UK manufacturing.
The citation relating to the award is: “The winner is an exemplar of how a combination of innovative design, leading edge manufacturing processes and a skilled and flexible workforce can support a UK manufacturing base in a sector such as commercial cleaning equipment that is characterised by overseas competitors.
“The winner is the founder of this Somerset-based manufacturer which now employs over 700 people and produces over 2,000 products per day under the iconic Henry brand.”
The award follows close on the heels of the MBE presented to Mr Duncan by the Princess Royal at Windsor Castle on October 3.
Last month, Mr Duncan collected his MBE for services to international business after being named in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in June.
He said: “I am delighted with the award, which acts to acknowledge the efforts of the whole of Numatic International here in Chard.”
